“I ended up in the MAC program at NC State because of the people. I considered other MAC programs, but I didn’t feel as though they knew much about me or prioritized online students as much as NC State does.”

We`re proud of recent Jenkins MAC graduate Mila Maher! A first-generation immigrant and a mom of two, Mila followed the Accelerated Bachelor`s-to-Master`s (ABM) program at Poole College and earned both her undergraduate and MAC degrees from NC State.
"If you had told me years ago, when I first arrived in the U.S., that I would one day earn a master`s degree, I wouldn`t have believed you," she says.
During her academic journey at Poole, she gave birth to her second child, had to balance school and family, and wasn`t always sure where her career was headed. But she thanks the staff and faculty for showing her new paths, encouraging her and giving her professional guidance.
"This degree represents more than an academic milestone – it represents resilience, perseverance, and the kindness of people who opened doors, offered encouragement, and helped me keep moving forward."
She now works as an IT risk & compliance consultant at Forvis Mazars US.

We`re proud of our own Jay Arrington for being named one of the Triangle Business Journal`s 40 under 40. As the MAC program`s director of admissions and enrollment, Jay has been with us since 2019 and has worked in higher education since 2011. He`s beloved by students, staff and faculty, and we feel so lucky to have him.
"What an incredible honor," Jay says of the award. "This journey has been shaped by so many people: mentors who challenged me, colleagues who believed in me, students who continue to inspire me every day, family and friends who have supported me through every season, and an amazing team that allows me to do work I genuinely love."
Jay and his fellow honorees also lent their talents to Habitat for Humanity, where they helped build houses. "It was a reminder that leadership isn`t just measured by titles or awards, but by serving others. Success means very little if it isn`t used to create opportunities for someone else."
