Who I Am, Why I’m Here, and What I Plan to Accomplish

I’m here to fill you in on a little about who I am, why I chose the NC State MAC Program specifically, what I hope to accomplish throughout the program, and some of the topics I will be blogging about during this semester.

Who Am I?

My name on my birth certificate reads “Taylor-Elise K. Beauprez”, but just call me Taylor. I was born and raised in Blacksburg, Virginia. To make it easier for those of you wondering where Blacksburg is, it’s where Virginia Tech is located. I moved to Raleigh to attend NC State in 2013. I graduated with my B.S. in Accounting in May 2017, and I’m currently a student in the NC State Jenkins MAC Program. Outside of school I devote my free time to friends, family, God, the gym, and cooking.

Why NC State MAC?

If any of you are familiar with Blacksburg, you understand there is nothing to Blacksburg but Virginia Tech.  I jumped at the opportunity to spread my wings and go to college somewhere else, somewhere bigger. I came to Raleigh and NC State in 2013 for my undergraduate studies and I haven’t looked back since. During my undergraduate career, I fell in love with this city and all of the opportunities and experiences NC State has to offer. Spending four years here wasn’t enough for me so there was no doubt in my mind the NC State MAC Program was where I wanted to complete my Master’s degree.

What Are My Goals?

I have so many goals I want to accomplish over the next nine months in the MAC Program, but I’ll give you my top three. One of the goals I want to accomplish is to grow academically. Even though this program is an intense, vigorous program that is meant to challenge all students, I hope to take advantage of the resources available to me and use them to help me grow academically. Another goal I want to accomplish is to pass all four parts of the CPA exam on my first try. My career goals rest on my passing of the exam; therefore, this is a “do or die” kind of goal for me. Lastly, I’d like to make some forever friends. I’d be taking the next year of my life for granted if I didn’t form relationships with at least some of my 125 classmates.

What Will I Blog About?

I will be blogging throughout fall semester on various topics. Some of these topics will include courses I’m taking, events I participate in held by the MAC Program, activities I do outside of school, and starting the CPA exam review.
