In Johnston County, some homeowners were shocked to see their property values increase by a significant amount in a recent reappraisal by the county. Those residents fear their property tax totals will follow. WRAL turned to Poole professor Roby Sawyers to learn how home values and property taxes correlate, and what homeowners need to know.
“The fact that the value is higher doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re going to pay more property tax,” he said.
