MAC Program Recognizes Advisory Board Members for Service and Commitment

The Jenkins MAC Advisory Board is comprised of MAC alumni and professionals across the accounting profession. The board meets several times during the year and receives updates on all aspects of the program. They are the eyes and ears of the industry and are able to provide valuable feedback regarding program changes, updates and more.

Started in 2005 by then MAC director, Kathy Krawczyk, the board included MAC alumni representing each graduating class since the first in 1995. Krawczyk wanted to grow the program and valued the feedback and knowledge the board provided. “We felt that our own MAC alumni could provide great feedback as to what current MAC students needed, in terms of coursework and skill development, to succeed in the accounting field, since they had recently taken the same steps.” Members served as mentors, panelists, and met quarterly as a group in person.

Scott Showalter decided to revamp the board when he took over as director in 2018 to expand board membership beyond alumni.  Showalter stated that “expanding the board membership beyond alumni gives the MAC Program the best of two worlds.  Individuals with a deep knowledge of the MAC Program and a broader perspective of emerging trends in the accounting profession.” The current board is a mixture of previous board members and new board members.

Today, the board consists of fifteen professionals that continue to be a sounding board for the MAC team and provide curriculum and program insight and advice to ensure all graduates are ready and prepared for their career on day one.  One of the objectives put forth in revising the board was to incorporate fixed terms where a predetermined number of board members would rotate off each year to help bring fresh ideas to the discussion.  The current board transition is the initial effort to establish fixed terms. We want to take this opportunity to thank each board member, who is leaving the board, for their many years of faithful service.

Many thanks to the following board members that are stepping down after their long tenure on the board.  Each of these individuals provided tremendous support and guidance over the years.
