The majority of the projects are sponsored by companies and facilitated by the centers and initiatives based in Poole College. The 2019 projects summaries will be posted the week of April 22.\nFree and open to the NC State community and the general public\, but registration is required. The registration link will be posted soon.\nAbout the Leadership and Innovation Showcase\nThe Leadership and Innovation Showcase provides students in Poole College’s practicum and other project-based courses the opportunity to present their projects to a team of judges and the general public and compete for scholarship prizes. It also acknowledges the many companies who provide projects that the students work on throughout the semester\, as well as the industry and other professional mentors who work with the project teams.\nVisitors from the campus community and the general public will see the depth and range of think and do applied by Poole College students in the course of their personal and professional development.\nSee the 2018 Showcase projects and winners.\nShowcase Awards\nA team of external and internal judges will evaluate the student projects and team presentations prior to the public viewing hours. It also acknowledges the many companies who provide projects that the students work on throughout the semester\, as well as the industry and other professional mentors who work with the project teams.\nVisitors from the campus community and the general public will see the depth and range of think and do applied by Poole College students in the course of their personal and professional development.\nSee the 2018 Showcase projects and winners.\nShowcase Awards\nA team of external and internal judges will evaluate the student projects and team presentations prior to the public viewing hours. The top three teams will be recognized at an awards ceremony that concludes the event.\nGuests are also invited to cast their votes for the People’s Choice award while viewing the student exhibits and talking with team members about their projects. Our next speaker in the series will be Roian Atwood\, Director of Sustainability for Wrangler and Lee jeans with a talk on “Wrangler’s Journey into Science and Conservation.”\nAbout Roian Atwood\nRoian Atwood is the Director of Sustainability for Wrangler and Lee jeans. Atwood leads brand sustainability strategy\, engages suppliers globally to drive greater social and environmental performance\, and works cross functionally with product development and marketing to create more sustainable products and share brand relevant stories. With fifteen years’ experience in footwear & apparel sustainability\, Roian has a track record of managing a diverse set of projects and leading teams into an action-oriented\, results driven approach to corporate sustainability. Atwood’s undergraduate work was in Complex Systems at Naropa University\, and he holds a Master’s of Environmental Management from the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University\nParking & Directions\nIf you are driving\, parking is available in the Dan Allen parking deck\, approximately one block from Witherspoon Student Center. Stokan (‘78) is CEO and president of Peach Bowl\, Inc.\, a position he has held since 1998. Under his leadership\, Peach Bowl\, Inc. events have generated an economic impact of over $1.08 billion in direct government tax revenue for the city of Atlanta and $66.7 million for the state of Georgia since 1999.\nStokan is a former NC State University basketball student-athlete\, Jon Speaks Award winner for team leadership and assistant basketball coach (1978-79).
