About Me

Hey everyone! I’m Art Rhoades and I am a new student here at NC State University in the Jenkins MAC program. Here’s a little background about myself, I graduated with my undergraduate degree in Business with a focus in Accounting from Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina.

I am from China Grove, North Carolina, which is about 30 minutes north of Charlotte. Having said this, I believe it is fair to say that I know how it feels to be coming from a small town and small college background, but I couldn’t feel more at home here in the MAC program.

Outside of my studies in accounting, I can be found at the gym, playing disc golf, out running, hiking, or swimming at one of the pools in the Carmichael Gym Complex. Friends and family come first in my life, so I love that keeping an active social life has been such a big focus in advice from previous MAC students.

Why I chose NC State and the MAC Program?

Upon reaching the end of my undergraduate studies I decided that I wanted to pass the CPA exam and enter the job market with an edge over other applicants. It was clear that a masters degree was the answer. After carefully combing through over a dozen or so, in and out of state universities it became clear to me that NC State was the right choice. What’s not to like about a 13:1 student to faculty ratio, 94% job placement, and a high CPA pass rate?.

If you decide to continue following my blog posts, you can expect to read on a variety of topics associated with my journey through the MAC Program. Everything from my personal classroom experiences, other student’s outlook on the program, the recruiting process, and even some professional dress tips (For men) will be covered in future posts.

Bringing this post to an end, I am looking forward to keeping everyone updated on the program. I hope to provide the information needed to fuel the desire to seek continued accounting education for future MAC students..
